By Staff Reporter

Nyasa Big Bullets have retained the TNM Super League title following their 3-1 win over Moyale Barracks in an entertaining match played on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets needed just a draw to be confirmed champions for the fourth consecutive time after they won 2-0 in a mid week fixture against Mighty Tigers.

Lanjesi Nkhoma who was voted man of the match, was Bullets’ match hero as he netted a brace in both halves to inspire the People’s team to an epic win and 16th super league title.

Nkhoma put Bullets ahead in the 20th minute as he connected well a pass from Precious Sambani to smash the ball into McDonald Harawa’s goal.

Gomezgani Chirwa increased Bullets’ lead 9 minutes later with a beautiful goal volleying over Harawa who had left his line to clear a Nickson Nyasulu’s long ball.

Moyale came an improved side in the second half playing a very beautiful passing game and creating a number of scoring opportunities but it was Bullets who scored first.

Nkhoma scored his second goal and third for Bullets in the 49th minute after a beautiful exchanging of passes with Chimwemwe Idana.

After knocking on Bullets’ goal for a couple of times, Lloyd Njaliwa finally got the back of the net in the 55th minute following a Brown Maganga’s well taken free kick.

Moyale continued to press header but still failed to equalise as Njaliwa and Maganga missed a number of scoring opportunities.

With Saturday’s win, the People’s team have 67 points from 28 games which means even if second placed Blue Eagles win their remaining two games will still not reach the points that Bullets have reached.

The Area 30 side have so far accumulated 59 points from the same number of games as Nyasa Big Bullets.

Moyale are stuck on seventh position with 46 points and the game against Bullets was their last match of the season.

In another super league encounter, relegated TN Stars and Karonga United shared the spoils as they played out to a goal-less draw at Kasungu Stadium.

On Sunday, Ekwendeni Hammers will host Kamuzu Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium and the big one will be at Kamuzu Stadium as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers hosts Civil Service FC who are fighting for a top 8 finish in the league.

The final games of the league will take place next weekend when Nyasa Big Bullets will be officially crowned champions.
