Silver Strikers secured the 2024 TNM Super League title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Macdonald Lameck scored the decisive goal in the second half, earning himself the Man of the Match award. The win propelled Silver Strikers to 64 points, a 10-point cushion over second-placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers with two games remaining.

Coach Peter Mponda’s side remains unbeaten in the league, with upcoming fixtures against FOMO FC and Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC.

Mponda praised his team’s performance, saying, “It was a professional display by my players today, and I’m delighted as a coach.” He also expressed gratitude to stakeholders who trusted him with the job.

Interim coach Bob Mpinganjira rued Mighty Mukuru Wanderers’ missed opportunities, particularly in the first half. “We created a lot of chances, but unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalize on them,” Mpinganjira said.

The championship win marks Silver Strikers’ first league title since 2013.
