Chirwa inks one-year contract deal with FOMO FC as Head Coach

One of the country’s prominent football coaches Gilbert Chirwa has signed a one-year contract with newly promoted TNM Super League side FOMO FC as a Head Coach.
Confirming of the news on Tuesday, the club’s General Secretary Richard Khembo said Chirwa understands the game very well hence his appointment among the three coaches that were called for interviews.
“He has been in the game for a very long time and we believe he will help us achieve our goal in the elite league,” Khembo said.
On his part, Chirwa said he believes his new team will do wonders in the coming football season as it has now an experienced coach.
“They are a visionary side and with that passion, I believe we can achieve great things together,” Chirwa indicated.
He therefore, applauded his predecessor Mapopa Msukwa for the job well done after making history to take the team to the country’s top league.
Chirwa, was the Head Coach of Dedza Dynamos and he guided the team to a 7th position finish in the TNM Super League and reached the semi-finals of the FDH Bank Cup.
He parted ways with Dedza Dynamos following the expiry of his contract on December 31st, 2023.
Chirwa also managed Rumphi United, Ekwendeni Hammers, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets among many teams before.
