Nyirenda Stays Focused as Bullets Climb Premiership Table After Masters Victory

By Rahim Abdul
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Wedson Nyirenda says his focus remains firmly on improving his own side rather than monitoring the progress of rival teams in the FDH Bank Premiership.
Nyirenda made the remarks after Bullets secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Masters FC at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre, a result that lifted the defending champions to third place on the league table.
The veteran coach said although his team continues to create numerous scoring opportunities, converting those chances into goals remains an area that requires urgent attention.
He expressed confidence in his attacking players, insisting they possess the quality needed to score consistently, but noted that they are currently lacking the belief required to finish chances more effectively.
Nyirenda said the technical panel will continue working closely with the current squad to address the weaknesses identified, adding that the club could strengthen the team with new signings if the opportunity arises.

The victory moved Bullets to 16 points, just one point behind league leaders Silver Strikers, while level on points with Blue Eagles, keeping the title race wide open.
For Masters FC, the defeat marked a third consecutive league loss, with two of those setbacks coming at Mpira Stadium, increasing pressure on the team’s coaching staff.
Assistant coach Victor Mphande admitted that his players allowed the game to slip away after failing to maintain their discipline and intensity despite following the tactical instructions given before the match.
According to Mphande, Masters started well and executed the game plan but gradually retreated and surrendered control to Bullets, a mistake that ultimately proved costly.
The only goal of the match came in the 55th minute when Ephraim Kondowe calmly converted a penalty after Damiano Kunje was penalised for handling the ball inside the box, handing Bullets all three points in a closely contested encounter.
