Mighty Tigers FC head coach, Leo Mpulula, has expressed concern over the challenges faced by young football players in Zomba district due to the lack of adequate sports facilities.
He made these remarks during the finals of Dr. James Mpunga’s 3-in-1 sports bonanza, which offered a prize of five million Kwacha on Sunday.
Mpulula praised the young players’ impressive skills, noting that despite being trained by unqualified coaches, they showed remarkable teamwork and ball-handling abilities.

He humorously added that he spotted five players who deserved to be taken under wing and polished to reach their full potential.
Dr. James Mpunga, the DPP shadow member of parliament for Zomba City South constituency, promised to upgrade the Works Training Center into a multipurpose sports facility.
He stated that he was discussing the idea with stakeholders and saw no obstacles in fulfilling this promise if voted into power on September 16.
The sports bonanza concluded with Chikowi Rangers FC emerging as winners, receiving K700,000 after defeating Mpondabwino FC 5-4 in a penalty shootout, following a 2-2 draw in regular time.
Dr. Mpunga’s promise to upgrade the Works Training Center offers hope for the future of sports in the area.
The lack of adequate sports facilities is a significant challenge facing young athletes in Zomba, and addressing this issue could have a positive impact on the development of sports in the district.
