Beach soccer championship set for Salima despite funding shortfall

The Beach Soccer Association of Malawi is gearing up for a highly competitive tournament, with the 2025 Beach Soccer Club Championship just around the corner.

Despite facing a funding shortfall of K18 million, General Secretary Frank Chisambula expressed confidence that the competition will proceed as planned.

“We are expecting a highly competitive tournament, and we hope to identify new talents that the country needs,” Chisambula said during the championship draw held in Lilongwe.



The draw saw six teams that qualified through the zones league divided into two groups, with the defending champions Beach Eagles facing stiff competition in Group B alongside Tourism and Black Eagles. Group A consists of Deep Bay, Vinthenga, and Nyasa.

The championship, scheduled to take place in Salima from April 26 to 27, 2025, promises to be an exciting event, with top teams battling for supremacy.

Chisambula’s optimism about the tournament’s prospects is evident, despite the funding challenges. “We will make do with the available resources and ensure the competition is a success,” he implied.

The Beach Soccer Association’s emphasis on talent identification is a welcome development for Malawian football.
