Renowned Actor Thlupego Chisiza laid to rest

The body of renowned actor Thlupego Chisiza has been laid to rest at HHI cemetery in Blantyre.

Earlier in the day, a large crowd that included Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa, Tourism Minister Vera Kamtukule gathered at Robins Park Hall in Njamba where a funeral ceremony took place.

Chisiza who was the second born son of the Theater legend, late Du Chisiza Junior, died on Sunday morning at the age of 40 after a short illness.



According to a statement released by the family, Thlupego is survived by two children, his mother, siblings and cousins.

“He will forever be remembered for his exceptional talent and unwavering passion for the theater stage, his resilience in the face of political persecution, and his compassionate nature,” reads the statement in part.

Apart from doing stage plays with Nanzikambe Arts, Thlupego was also into movies and radio drama, having worked with MBC in “Theatre of the Air,” as well as Story Workshop in “Tiritonse,” and “Zimachitika.”
