One of the country’s top private schools, Maranatha Private Academy says it has decided to reverse its plans to relocate its form 2 and 4 classes to Zalewa – Mwanza and Balaka following a warning from the Ministry of Education.
The school’s Managers, Enerst Kaonga, told local media on Tuesday that the relocation arrangement was not meant to flout the stipulated education guideline.
Kaonga disclosed that it was a private arrangement between the school and guardians of students who feared that the prolonged holiday will affect the performance of their students during examinations.
” It was not only our plans to do this. Even the parents and guardians are aware of this. So, following a ministry’s warning released yesterday, we are not going forward with the decision to relocate the two campuses ,” he said.
On Monday, January 9,2023,Ministry of Education issued a warning that any private school is not supposed to move away from its original district without seeking approval following suspension of lessons in Blantyre and Lilongwe owing to surge in cholera cases.
