By Rahim Abdul
The National Theatre Association of Malawi (NTAM) – Southern Chapter is hosting a Theatrical Charity Show on July 7 at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre to raise money for Penno Mussa, popularly known as Dimingu, a renowned radio drama actor.
Dimingu needs a Gastrointestinal surgery in August, and the NTAM Southern Region Chapter has organized this event to support their colleague’s medical needs.
The charity show will feature a range of activities, including poetry, dances, comedy, and drama. Several well-known actors and actresses, including Flora Suya, Vice President Dr. Michael Usi, and poet Sylvester Kalizangoma, will perform to support the cause.

The organizers hope that theatre lovers will attend the show in large numbers and contribute whatever amount they can spare to help Dimingu.
The event highlights the power of arts and community coming together to support a good cause.
Dimingu, an actor on MBC 1 radio drama “Pamajiga,” has been a beloved figure in Malawian entertainment for years.
His health struggles over the past seven years have garnered sympathy and support from the community, and this charity show is a testament to the impact he has had on people’s lives.
The NTAM Southern Region Chapter’s initiative demonstrates the importance of community and solidarity in times of need. By using the platform of theatrical arts, the organizers aim to raise the necessary funds for Dimingu’s surgery and provide him with the support he needs during this challenging time.
