Former deputy minister Olive Masanza launches two books

Former Deputy Minister of Education and parliamentarian for Mulanje Limbuli, Olive Masanza, has launched two books at a function held at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre. The books, titled “The Origins of Mang’anja People” and “Princes of Fate,” are a testament to Masanza’s dedication to preserving and sharing Malawi’s rich cultural heritage.
“The Origins of Mang’anja People” provides a detailed account of the history and origins of the Mang’anja people, while “Princes of Fate” is Masanza’s autobiography, offering a glimpse into her life and experiences.

The book launch was attended by notable figures, including Prof. George Kanyama Phiri, Chairperson for Chewa Heritage Foundation, who praised Masanza for her contributions to the preservation of Malawi’s cultural heritage.
Prof. Phiri highlighted the significance of Masanza’s work, noting that the books will serve as a valuable reference for future generations.
He emphasized that the Mang’anja, Nyanja, and Senga people are not standalone tribes but rather groupings within the Chewa tribe, as clearly stated in Masanza’s book.
The special guest at the book launch, Maggie Kathewela Banda, chairperson for NGC-Gender Coordination Network, demonstrated her support for Masanza’s work by purchasing the two books at K400,000. This gesture underscores the importance of promoting and preserving Malawi’s cultural heritage.
