Malawian popular musician Joe Gwaladi, has been charged with grievous harm, for assaulting and injuring his wife.
Malawi Police arrested Gwaladi, 35,yesterday in Phalombe District.
According to the district’s Police Public Relations Officer(PRO) Jimmy Kapanja, on October 22, 2023, the ‘Thumbocid’ hit maker left home for a bar within the area and he did not return home
The following morning, he returned home where he asked his wife to accompany him to the bar to continue drinking and the both returned home while drunk during the night.
Kapanja says upon arrival, the couple started quarrelling and later the suspect started hitting his wife with burnt brick, reportedly injuring her on both arms, the forehead, with her left middle toe cut off.
The suspect is currently still in police custody.
Gwaladi hails from Namuthu Village, in the area of Traditional Authority(T/A) Kaledzera in the district.
