Ndalama launches K20 million football and netball tournaments in Machinjiri

Veronica Ndalama, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) shadow member of Parliament for South Lunzu Constituency in Machinjiri, has launched K20 million football and netball tournaments in the area.

The tournaments, which aim to unearth raw talent in the community, were launched at Nthawira Catholic Primary School ground.

During the launch, Ndalama emphasized the importance of sports in promoting unity and social interaction.



“I have done this because I would like to help nurture football and netball talents from Machinjiri,” she said, adding that,”Moreover, sport has the power to promote unity and social interaction.”

To support the tournaments, Ndalama provided match balls and K50,000 to each of the 87 football and netball teams that have registered to participate.

This gesture has been well-received by the community, with many youths expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their skills.

Group Village Head Machinjiri, who attended the launch, urged the youths to make good use of the competition to polish up their skills. “We are grateful to Hon. Ndalama for this initiative,” he said, adding that,”We appeal to the youths to take this opportunity seriously and use it to develop their talents.”

The launch of the tournaments has generated excitement in the community, with many expecting a thrilling competition.

The tournaments are expected to bring together teams from different parts of Machinjiri, promoting unity and healthy competition.

Ndalama’s initiative is a welcome development for the community, and it remains to be seen how the tournaments will impact the local sports scene.
