Rev. Kawalala calls for unity to drive Malawi’s economic recovery

Rev. Zacc Kawalala, Chairperson of the Dynamic Leaders and Gatekeepers Forum (DLGF), has emphasized the need for unity in Malawi’s pursuit of economic recovery.

Speaking ahead of the 8th Annual DLGF Conference, scheduled for June 20, 2025, at the BICC in Lilongwe, Kawalala stressed that the country requires dynamic leaders and vigilant gatekeepers to spearhead meaningful and lasting change.

Themed “Revitalising the Economy: Investing in a Stronger and More Sustainable Malawi,” the conference aims to bring together thought leaders and stakeholders to discuss strategies for economic revitalization. Keynote speakers include Uganda’s Allen Kagina and Malawi’s own Prof. Winford Masanjala, among others.

Kawalala highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing Malawi’s economic challenges.

“Malawi needs dynamic leaders and vigilant gatekeepers to drive real, lasting change,” he said, adding that, “We must work together to build a stronger and more sustainable economy that benefits all Malawians.”

The DLGF Conference provides a platform for leaders and experts to share insights and experiences on issues critical to Malawi’s development.

This year’s theme underscores the urgent need for innovative solutions and strategic investments to revitalize the economy and ensure sustainable growth.

The conference is expected to attract a wide range of participants, including policymakers, business leaders, academics, and civil society representatives.

Through discussions and debates, attendees will explore ways to address the country’s economic challenges and identify opportunities for growth and development.
