Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolution Party(MRP) for electoral alliances

By Steven Godfrey Mkweteza
Just few month before the country goes to the general elections, Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolution Party (MRP) has come out in the open, calling for any political party to partner with the party for an electoral alliances.
Secretary general for the revolution party, Grayson Mikuwa said this in an exclusive interview on Monday at the party’s base in Blantyre.
Mikuwa said an electoral alliance could be the only ideal strategy to win the September 16 tripartite elections.

” Given the 50 plus-one vote requirement ahead of us, we feel coming together as an electoral alliance that shares the same ideologies is the best strategy to win the forthcoming elections because no party can win on its own,” he said
Mikuwa said since the formation of the party, representatives from varrious political parties in the country have been approaching the party pressing for an electoral alliance.
” But we have been scrutinizing their ideologies to see if they match with our ideologies. We are therefore announcing that we are now ready to form an electoral alliance with those parties whose ideologies are matching with ours,” he said
According to Mikuwa, the parties president Bantu Saunders Juma, will be on the ballot, representing the party but if the party goes into an electoral alliance, the parties will agreed on who to represent the alliance.
” Yes, we can go to the elections alone if a partner is not identified. We will still have to taste the waters,” he said
Among others, Mikuwa said the revolution party will introduce Senate houses in all the political regions of the country so that chiefs and other traditional leaders would be living within the vicinity of the people at the grassroots.
” We would like also to empower the traditional leaders to prosecute the leaders who abuse the resources so as to enhance transparency and accountability,” said Mikuwa
The secretary general for the yet to be launched party, said the party has also drafted varrious income generating activities so as to discourage the country from the donor dependency syndrome.
” In fact, we have been sharing our views with so many leaders of this country as a pressure group but we haven’t seen much of them been taken on board, hence the formation of this political party,” he said
Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolution Party ( MRP) is the first political party in the country to be certified by the National planning commission ( NPC) for aligning it’s manifesto with the Malawi 2063 agenda on mindset change.
