President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah says Malawi is a country of individual interests not national interests claiming that its people were baptized by individual interest leaders running government.
Jumah said orthodox politics and politics of individual interests have destroyed Malawi observing that the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) was established to develop lives of the youth for the betterment of the country.
He said it is sad hearing news that government has written off K6 billion of loans that people borrowed from NEEF saying the same situation happened in 2018 when the DPP led government written off K9 billion loans which were disbursed by the Malawi Enterprise Development Fund (MEDEF).
Speaking through his face book page widely read by millions of people in Malawi and Africa, Jumah has lamented that while K6 billion loans have been written off, hospitals do not have bandages and Panadol, and out of 10 schools, 7 are grass roofed with children learning under trees.
Jumah said in 2015 there was politics of individual interests after noting that the borrowers could not repay the loans, they sold out Malawi Savings Bank (MSB) at a give away price of K900 million, the bank which has branches in all districts across the country.
He said Malawi has gone 60 years of independence practicing individual interests running orthodox government claiming that politicians have been changing parties for individual interests of tenders and contracts and not national interests.
The MRP President said individual interest has also been observed in the 2024 national budget of K5.19 trillion saying out of this figure, K44 billion has been allocated to state house and yet the same people claim that Malawi is a poor country.
“Once leaders practice orthodox politics and individual interest, corruption becomes an institution, Malawi cannot fight against corruption but condoning corruption,’ said Jumah.
He said out of the whole Ministers who practice corruption in the MCP led Tonse Alliance government, no politician has been arrested but President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera pardoned two, Dr. Bakili Muluzi, a suspect in the K1.7 billion corruption case and Uladi Mussa-a corruption convict.
Jumah said a country that cannot prosecute big fishes, no development claiming that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is going with Martha Chizuma’s contract not to be renewed claiming that roads infrastructure projects are taking too long to be completed because of money entering into the people’s pockets.
The MRP President has lamented that for 4 years, the MCP led government is failing to complete a 5 Kilometer -Road from the Parliament Building to Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe saying this cannot happen in China, Mozambique, Namibia and other countries only in Malawi.
He has advised Malawians that until that day Malawians will vote for a nationalist in 2025, the country will be resurrected from deathbed and will see tangible development projects saying only an unknown person in Malawi politics one being Bantu Saunders Jumah will change Malawi in 4 years.
