President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Thursday launched this year’s national tree planting exercise at a colourful function which took place in Phalombe District.
The function took place under theme “Forest Innovation in Action: Reforestation for a Sustainable Tomorrow”
“Today in Phalombe, we have officially launched the 2023-2024 National Forestry Season under the theme “Forest Innovation in Action: Reforestation for a Sustainable Tomorrow” My administration is deliberately focusing on innovation because we realise the importance of cutting-edge technologies and practices in addressing climate change challenges,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
The President has since urged Malawians to join the exercise.
“I implore you all to join the fight against environmental degradation by planting more trees on our respective premises and any other land designated for such purposes.”
Chakwera said a greener and healthier future begins with Malawians themselves.
