A bus belonging to Mzuzu University (MZUNI) on Saturday involved in an accident at Kanduli area in Nkhata Bay district.
According to Nkhata Bay Police publicist, Kondwani James, the bus had 49 passengers on board, who were on their way to Nkhata Bay.
James said the driver noticed that the bus had a break failure and before before driving towards a slope, he decided to swerve it to the other side in order to let it rest on the roadside, in an attempt to avoid a tragedy if he accelerated on the slope.
He said so far, no student is reported to have sustained any injury but the conductor has sustained bruises on his forehead.
Mzuni assistant registrar responsible for public relations, Cliff Kawanga said the students were on an educational visit, adding that the university is on the ground to establish what has caused the accident.
