Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) says it will on November 4, 2023 host its members day for the first time in the history of the club.

The club’s director responsible for commercial, Gift Chidya Gondwe, said told journalists on Tuesday this week that the event will be a celebration of the members’ loyalty and dedication to the club.

“We have members who remained loyal to the club despite some challenges we faced such as Cyclone Freddy and the Covid-19 pandemic. We want to thank them for that.

“We have organised various sporting activities such as tennis, swimming, darts, golf, squash, football, athletics and aerobics,” said Chidya Gondwe.

He said they will also unveil a strategic plan and update existing and potential members on the developments that have taken place such as extension of the gym, where they are now offering state-of-the-art facilities.

“We will also update them on the refurbishment of tennis and squash courts, introduction of junior golf and improved catering services.

“It will also provide an opportunity for interaction,” added Gondwe.

He said the event will start with a parade from Clock Tower to BSC through Blantyre CBD.

The club however, urged the corporate world and organisations to partner with it through sponsorship in any of the three categories namely gold; which has been pegged at K2.5 million, silver at K1 million and K500 000 for bronze.

Gondwe said the benefits for gold category will include recognition as an exclusive sponsor, a presentation on services or business and designation of space to advertise, promote and sell their products.

Some of the benefits outlined above will also extend to silver and bronze categories.

Established in 1896, the Blantyre Sports Club has been holding golf, football, darts, and many other sporting tournaments ever since.

The club is attended by all groups of people, including foreigners.

It is a quiet environment with a rich sporting history.

Apart from sporting activities, there are also live music events, whereas food and beer-lovers will find the bar and the café of Blantyre Sports Club attractive.
