Former Trade Minister Simplex Chithyola Banda who has recently been appointed Minister of Finance has thanked President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for the trust and confidence placed in him and is praising God for what he calls a divine calling to serve the nation at a time when it needs economic solutions to solve the current challenges.
Chithyola Banda, who is currently on his way to IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings taking place in Morocco, described his appointment as a litmus test to young people to showcase the abilities that would help address the economic challenges.
The new Finance Minister said he is confident that the local economy will bounce back strongly if all Malawians play their rightful role.
Chithyola has since pleaded with Malawians to give him time to manage what he calls quick fixes for the economy to rebound.
He has also hailed Gwengwe for the good job he did as Finance Minister.
President Lazarus Chakwera on Saturday night appointed Chithyola Banda to the role, replacing Sosten Gwengwe who now heads to the Ministry of Trade.
