President Chakwera says late JZU Tembo was a source of inspiration

President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has described the former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader the late John Zenus Ungapake (JZU) Tembo as a source of inspiration.
JZU Tembo, a right hand man of the country’s first President Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda died on Wednesday 27th September at City Centre Clinic in Lilongwe. He was 91 years old
In a statement, Chakwera said he is deeply saddened by the death of JZU Tembo.
The Malawi leader said he will remember Tembo not only as a political big wig, but also as a source of inspiration and a repository of knowledge.
Reads the statement in part, “Rt Hon. Dr JZU Tembo had extensive experience as a cabinet member with his contribution to our country, spanning six decades, including his role as first Malawian minister of finance and governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi.”
Chakwera explained that JZU’s role in facilitating a democratic transfer of power within the party in 2014 will forever be remembered in MCP’s national political history.
His family says burial arrangements will be announced later.
