Democratic Progressive Party(DPP) Vice President for Eastern Region Bright Msaka has asked the African Park Management and Director of Wildlife Brighton Kumchedwa to ensure a speedy search for a suspected African Wild Dog that injured four people in Liwonde township in Machinga District.
The victims are two mothers and two kids.
Msaka, who is also Machinga Likwenu lawmaker, made the appeal on Sunday after visiting the victims at Machinga District Hospital where they are admitted and receiving medical treatment.
“I am from here and this is my home. So, coming to see our friends here is the best thing to do when they are in hard times but I tell you this is not a mere dog as others are suggesting,” said Msaka
He stressed the need for authorities to hunt for the animal so that people’s peace is restored.
A few days ago, African Park Manager, Dave Robertson said they do not have the population of wild dogs anymore.
But he however, plegded to engage the district council authorities in tracking down the suspected wild dog.
