There is renewed hope for the business sector in the country following the restoration of power generation machines at Kapichira Hydro Power station
Speaking on Wednesday at the official opening of the 33rd Malawi International Trade Fair in Blantyre, President of Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commence and Industry Lekani Katundula thanked President Lazarus Chakwera for making sure that the power generation machines at the power station have been fully restored.
“We are glad Your Excellency that Kapichira Hydro Power Station is now back to capacity,” he said.
Katundula said MCCCI is hopeful that the additional power at the station will boost the manufacturing industry in the country.
Katundula expressed hope that the current power situation in the country will result in more business opportunities in the country.
“Electricity is a critical ingredient in the manufacturing process and as more power is added into the grid in the coming months and years we should expect the emergency of business units that will help in rebalancing our trade position,” he said.
Apart from opening this year’s Trade Fair, the function also marked the official opening of the Malawi Bureau of Standards laboratories and office complex.
