Goshen Farm, a subsidiary of Goshen City belonging to Malawi’s popular Prophet Shepherd Bushiri says it is set to produce over 10,000 metric tonnes of maize at one of its farms in Mchinji.
This is according to Spokesperson for the City Ephraim Nyondo.
Nyondo says Goshen farm aims at growing more maize after the harvest through irrigation.
“As per said by Dr. Shepherd Bushiri, the Visionaire to the City, we are not just building a city but an ecosystem that will coherently and concurrently build each other,” said Nyondo.
He disclosed that currently, they are complementing the government’s effort in encouraging farmers to go for winter cropping.
“The Ministry of Agriculture already made it clear to the public that those that have the ability to go into winter cropping, they should do so with a huge international market already available to buy our produce so we’re working towards that,” he said.
The first phase of Bushiri’s magnificent Goshen City which is in Malawi’s lake shore district of Mangochi is expected to open in December this year.
