Health authorities urged to strengthen district health management teams

The Malawi School Government (MSG),a merge of Malawi Institute of Management(MIM)and Staff Development Institute(SDI) in conjunction with Ministry of Health (MoH) have called on authorities working in the health sector to strengthen District Health Management Teams(DHMTs)following the hike of emergencies in the country.
Speaking on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of Leadership and Management Training for the teams in Blantyre,Chief of Health Services in the Ministry of Health , Dr .Queen Dube said the emergencies of Cyclones and cholera outbreak can possibly hinder growth of the health sector if the leaders are weak in terms of their outputs.
She said the training is aimed at equipping people working in the health sector on how best they can manage emergencies of health concern.
Dube then commended MSG for implementing the training.
“The cohort in the training will help MoH to reach 17 districts as these people will be serving as pioneers on the goal,”highlighted Dube.
On his part, Head of Programs at MSG for Mpemba campus,Humphreys Mndaka said the complement of the training will empower the school to do more on assisting those in the management.
Among those present in the 10 days training are district health leaders from Nkhotakota,Chitipa,Ntcheu and Mwanza.
MSG was formed through the Act of parliament No.33 of 2022.
