Tonse Alliance administration raises leave grants for civil servants by 25%
By Staff Reporter
Government under the leadership of Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has increased leave grants for civil servants by 25 percent.
The development follows concerns raised by civil servants calling for government to consider increasing their leave grants following the increase of prices of commodities on the market.
Speaking with local media on Tuesday Mavuto Kaonga, Deputy General Secretary for Civil Servants Trade Union said they are delighted with the increment.
Kaonga said they are still waiting for government to release a statement on transport allowance following the passing of the budget.
Leave grant is a special leave that employees can request.
The organization can approve or reject the leave grant on a case-to-case basis.
It is typically useful when the leave requirement is not covered under fixed entitlements or is needed in excess beyond the current entitlement.
