Achalume star WalyCris laid to rest

The body of Achalume hit maker WalyCris Wanyengo has been laid to rest in his home town, Machinjiri in the city of Blantyre.
Hundreds of mourners that included fellow artists attended the burial ceremony of one of Malawi’s fastest-rising star.
The artist died on Friday on his way back home from South Africa where he went to perform alongside Zembani Band.
Reports indicate that the Matours bus which the musician boarded collided with a truck and WalyCris died on the spot.
Born Wyson Laifoh, on the 25th of September, 1997 the Machinjiri based artist started his music journey in 2015 and in his career he recorded songs with a number of musicians like Nepman, Bucci and Guntola just to mention but a few.
WalyCris became a household name in September this year after releasing his hit single ‘Achalume’ done in Yao language that earned him a lot of respect and bookings across the country.
At the time he mate his fate, the artist was coming from his first ever live performance abroad.
This week the artist released another Yao flavor ‘Mbumu’ which has also been enjoying airplay in different platforms.
