Vuwa Kaunda sues Malawi Government, wants Supreme Court Nullification ruling reversed

Former Nkhata Bay Central Constituency member of Parliament Symon Vuwa Kaunda, has decided not to go down without fighting. Following the recent Supreme Court ruling that annulled the election results for the area , Vuwa has sued the government of Malawi at the African Court on Human and People’s Rights in Arusha – Tanzania
According to the papers that Malawiana Times has seen , Vuwa wants the African Court to review the ruling and reverse it so that he can continue being a member of parliament for the area.
On the government side ,Attorney General Dr. Chikosa Silungwe has confirmed receipt of the application of notice last Thursday but said he is yet to make a recommendation on the way forward to government.
Malawi Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Chifundo Kachale says preparations for the June 29 by-election in the disputed constituency and two other wardswill continue as the Commission hasn’t been served any papers yet
In an Interview, Vuwa Kaunda said he has sought to obtain a stay in his application at the African Union Court to review the Supreme Court of Appeal’s basis to nullify the 2019 Parliamentary Election.
