MCP Diaspora Mobilizes Global Malawians Behind 2025-2030 Development Blueprint

By Durell Namasani
Rev. George Limbani Phiri, Chair of the Malawi Congress Party’s Diaspora Network, has thrown his full support behind the party’s 2025-2030 manifesto, calling it a transformative roadmap for national progress. In a powerful statement, Phiri described the document as building on President Lazarus Chakwera’s foundation while perfectly aligning with Malawi’s long-term Malawi 2063 development vision.
The manifesto framework stands on four key principles: implementation of Malawi 2063 goals through MIP-1; the ATM+M economic strategy targeting agriculture, tourism, mining and manufacturing; the SUPER Hi-5 governance achievements; and establishment of a capable democratic developmental state. Phiri emphasized the diaspora’s crucial role in advancing this agenda through skills transfer, investments and innovation.
Detailing six implementation pillars, Phiri outlined how global Malawians can contribute to food security through agricultural technology investments and market linkages for local produce. On job creation, he urged diaspora professionals to create mentorship programs and international opportunities for Malawian youth. The wealth creation pillar presents opportunities for productive investment of remittances and support for local enterprises.

The diaspora chair called for partnerships to improve service delivery in healthcare and education through equipment donations and digital transformation support. On governance, he emphasized the need for transparency advocacy and anti-corruption expertise sharing. The digital economy pillar presents openings for ICT skills transfer and startup funding.
Phiri issued a rallying cry for all overseas Malawians to unite behind the manifesto, stressing that their combined resources and expertise are essential for building a self-reliant, prosperous nation. “Let us fulfill our patriotic duty across borders,” he urged, positioning the diaspora as key partners in Malawi’s journey toward 2030 and beyond. The statement underscores the MCP’s commitment to inclusive development harnessing both domestic and international Malawian capabilities.
