President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has declared the triumphant return of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), promising a new era of discipline, service, and transformation for the people of Malawi.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Mutharika announced, “The mighty DPP is back!” emphasizing that his administration is guided by a renewed vision and a new DPP agenda.

He reaffirmed his longstanding commitment to integrity and delivery, stating, “I promise what I do; and I do what I promise. I promised that we would be back. And today, we are back!”

The President described the DPP’s return to power as both a divine and democratic victory, attributing the success to “the will of God and the collective will of the people.”

He noted that the 2025 election was not just a political event but a historic moment where Malawians witnessed “the invisible hand of God” shaping the nation’s destiny.

“This election has reminded us that Malawians are united in one vision, one dream, as one country with one purpose,” he said.

Mutharika stressed that the people’s call for change was loud and clear, declaring, “We all wanted change. We voted for change. We expect change. I promise you real change. Zinthu zisintha!”

However, he cautioned that true transformation must begin with individual responsibility, urging citizens to embrace a new way of thinking and action.

“If you want a different Malawi, if you want different results, then let us begin to think differently, and do things differently,” he said.

Addressing members of his party and public officials, Mutharika reminded them that government is not a personal entitlement but a platform for service to the nation.

“To all my friends in the DPP and anyone in any public office, remember this: Malawi belongs to its people. This country does not belong to any person, any tribe, or any political party,” he emphasized.

He called for a culture of selflessness and national service, urging leaders to govern for the people rather than personal gain.

“Let us be in government to serve the people; not to serve our bellies, not to serve our families,” Mutharika said firmly.

He condemned the widespread mindset of entitlement in politics, describing it as the root cause of corruption and underdevelopment.

“Tisiye kuganiza kuti tikulowa m’boma kuti tidyelele. This is the attitude that is killing this country,” he warned.

The President made it clear that his administration would not tolerate looting or abuse of public resources, declaring that “the honeymoon of looting government is over.”

“You are dealing with a different President now. And you are looking at a different President. I will not allow anyone to destroy this country under my watch!” he declared emphatically.

Mutharika emphasized the importance of discipline, transparency, and accountability in public service, saying he and Vice President Justice Dr. Jane Ansah, SC, will “clean up the house to restore discipline and integrity in government.”

He cautioned all public servants against misconduct and complacency, reminding them, “Do not say I never warned you.”

The President concluded with a rallying call for unity and collective responsibility, urging Malawians to rise above division and work together for the nation’s progress.

“So, let us come to serve the many people who voted for us. We voted as one people, and let us rise above our differences to change this country as one people,” he said.

Through this message, President Mutharika has positioned his return to power as not merely a political comeback, but a moral and developmental mission to rebuild Malawi with integrity, unity, and purpose.
