In his speech, Chakwera said the strategic pillars are designed to drive the realization of the Malawi 2063 agenda—a long-term vision to transform the country into a wealthy and self-reliant nation.

The president expressed his gratitude to the 2.6 million Malawians who voted for him in the 2020 elections, describing their support as the foundation of his leadership.

Reflecting on the past five years, the Malawi leader acknowledged the significant challenges Malawi has faced, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Cyclone Freddy, a cholera outbreak, and the tragic death of former Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima.

Despite these adversities, the president praised the resilience and unity of Malawians, which he said enabled his administration to make notable progress.

Among the achievements he highlighted were the creation of over two million jobs for young people from the previous six million unemployed, a reduction in attacks on persons with albinism, and the successful rollout of mega farms nationwide.

Chakwera also thanked Malawi’s development partners for their invaluable support, emphasizing the critical role they play in advancing national development goals.

He expressed optimism about strengthening these collaborations in the future.

“I am confident that this manifesto will serve as a robust blueprint for our partnership in advancing Malawi’s development agenda. Having worked together over the past five years, I look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts in the next term,” said Chakwera.

Looking ahead, the president outlined bold new initiatives, including transforming the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) into a fully-fledged bank, introducing public elections for mayors, and launching the ‘Mtsogolo Account’—a savings initiative for unborn children aimed at breaking the cycle of generational poverty.

“Our vision is for a prosperous Malawi, not just for today, but for generations to come,” Chakwera declared.
