The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), organizers of the Entertainers of the Year Awards, has announced that only works released between January and December 2025 will be considered for recognition.
This eligibility period aims to ensure that the awards reflect the current year’s music and entertainment industry trends.
MBC Director General George Kasakula made the announcement during a preparatory media briefing and stakeholder engagement at Hotel Victoria in Blantyre.
He emphasized the importance of consistency and fairness in the award process, highlighting the corporation’s commitment to recognizing outstanding contributions to Malawi’s entertainment industry.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in February 2026 at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe. This venue is expected to host a gathering of prominent figures in Malawi’s entertainment industry, music enthusiasts, and other stakeholders.
Kasakula assured that transparency will be a core aspect of the event, with auditors overseeing the process to ensure its integrity.
After public voting, the organizing committee will vet the nominations to ensure consistency and accuracy. This step is crucial in maintaining the credibility of the awards, as it helps to eliminate any inconsistencies that may arise during the voting process.
