Mpinganjira Credits Discipline and Technical Independence for Mighty Wanderers’ Title Triumph

By Rahim Abdul
Mighty Wanderers president Dr Thomson Mpinganjira has revealed that reducing interference in technical matters played a decisive role in the club’s success this season. He said past struggles were largely caused by constant involvement of officials and supporters in coaching decisions.
Mpinganjira explained that before the TNM Super League season kicked off, management made a firm resolution to give the technical panel full authority.
Coaches were instructed not to take instructions from club executives or fans, a move he believes restored professionalism within the team.

According to Mpinganjira, this clear separation of roles allowed the coaching staff to work without pressure, focus on tactics and build a stable squad.
He said the change created trust and accountability, which translated into consistent performances on the pitch.
He added that the club’s title-winning campaign proved that patience and respect for technical expertise are essential ingredients in modern football.
Wanderers showed improved organization, discipline and game management throughout the season.
Looking ahead, Mpinganjira disclosed that the club plans to reward the technical team by extending their contracts. The renewal will include head coach Bob Mpinganjira and his assistants, in recognition of the work that delivered the league championship.
Beyond contract extensions, the Wanderers president said the club is planning to invest further in capacity building. Some members of the technical panel are expected to be sent abroad during the league break to attend coaching courses aimed at enhancing their skills and exposure.
“This is about long-term development, not just one season,” Mpinganjira said, stressing that continuous learning will help the club remain competitive both locally and in continental competitions.
While celebrating the TNM Super League title, Mpinganjira described the achievement as a personal milestone. He noted that the success came despite criticism from some quarters who opposed the appointment of Bob Mpinganjira as head coach.
He said the trophy has silenced doubters and demonstrated that decisions should be judged by results rather than public opinion. For him, the triumph validated the club’s belief in its chosen leadership.
Mpinganjira concluded by urging other local teams to embrace professionalism and respect technical autonomy, saying Malawi football can only grow if clubs allow coaches to do their jobs without undue interference.
