DPP official urges government action on food shortages and road decay in Chikwawa

By Burnett Munthali

George Quoma, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regional chairperson for Chikwawa Central West, has called on the government to take urgent measures to address food distribution challenges in the district.

He highlighted that many residents in the area are struggling with hunger, particularly due to inadequate maize supplies.

Quoma made these remarks while speaking at Nchalo Market, a hub of local commerce and community interaction.

The statements coincided with a political rally being held by Second Vice President Enock Chihana, who is leading a series of engagements in the area.

In addition to food concerns, Quoma also urged authorities to take action against the deteriorating condition of roads in the district.

He stressed that damaged infrastructure is compounding the hardships faced by residents and hindering access to essential services.

Quoma’s calls reflect growing public concern over basic service delivery and infrastructure maintenance in Chikwawa, as communities seek immediate government intervention.
