Multiple people feared trapped following Gold Mine collapse in Kasungu

Over ten individuals are feared trapped after a gold mine collapsed in Chimbiya village, Chitanthamapiri, in Kasungu district.

An eyewitness told MIJ Online that two people have been rescued so far, while one is suspected dead.

Rescue operations are currently ongoing as authorities work to reach those still trapped underground.



Disaster response teams and police have been deployed to the scene to coordinate the search and ensure safety.

The cause of the collapse has not yet been confirmed, and investigations are underway to determine what led to the incident.

Local residents have gathered near the site, expressing concern and hoping for the safe recovery of all trapped miners.

Authorities are urging people to stay clear of the area to facilitate rescue operations and prevent further accidents.
