MUBAS launches Nzeru Hub, a milestone in ICT education

By Jones Gadama
The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) has reached a significant milestone with the launch of the Nzeru hub, a platform designed to provide students with access to ICT education materials online. Stakeholders have hailed this development as a major step forward for the university.
Dr. Martin Bright Msendema, Project Lead and Lecturer of Computer Science and Information Systems at MUBAS, emphasized that the Nzeru hub will not only enhance students’ learning experience but also enable the university to fulfill its mandate of making a positive impact on the community.

Solomon Dindi, Chief Executive Officer for the Malawi Research and Education Network (MAREN), welcomed the Nzeru hub, stating that it will be a valuable resource for MUBAS students, providing them with extra content to support their studies. Dindi urged students to take full advantage of this new platform.
Chioma Dimgba, a bachelor of science in architectural studies student at MUBAS, expressed optimism about the hub’s potential, believing it will help students improve their performance and gain proficiency in artificial intelligence.
The Nzeru hub, launched today at MUBAS, will offer students access to a wide range of information on ICT, entrepreneurship, programming, and artificial intelligence.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to empower students with the digital skills necessary to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.
The hub is powered by partnerships with organizations like Microsoft, Afrika Tikkun, and the Government of Malawi, and is funded by the European Union and Irish Aid.
MUBAS has been at the forefront of promoting research and innovation in Malawi, committing K450 million to support various research and innovation activities.
The university’s emphasis on innovation is also reflected in its UniPod initiative, which provides a collaborative space for students, designers, and business visionaries to bring their ideas to life.
The launch of the Nzeru hub is a testament to MUBAS’s commitment to providing its students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
As Dr. Msendema noted, this milestone is not just about enhancing the university’s curriculum but also about making a positive impact on the broader community.
