Two arrested in K20 million theft case at ETG shop in Kasungu

Police in Kasungu have arrested two men in connection with the theft of K20 million from an ETG shop located within the district.
The suspects, identified as Benjamin Masautso Banda, aged 30, and Aaron Bandawe, aged 34, are believed to have committed the crime between June 29 and July 1 of last year.
Kasungu police spokesperson, Inspector Joseph Kachikho, confirmed the arrests and said the suspects are currently in police custody.

According to Inspector Kachikho, both men have voluntarily admitted to committing the offence.
The two suspects reportedly led police officers to the scene and demonstrated how they carried out the theft.
Investigations are currently underway to recover the stolen money.
Police have assured the public that every effort is being made to trace and retrieve the cash.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon where they will formally be charged.
Benjamin Masautso Banda hails from Chilolo Village, under Traditional Authority Chakhaza in Dowa District.
His co-accused, Aaron Bandawe, comes from Mkwinda Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kayembe, also in Dowa.
The arrests have brought renewed attention to rising incidents of business-related theft in the region.
Police have since urged businesses to strengthen their security systems and report any suspicious activities.
The public is also encouraged to provide any information that could assist in the ongoing investigations.
Law enforcement authorities in Kasungu have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that all culprits face the law.
