NICE urges young people to take active role in decision-making

The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) has called on young people in the country to actively engage in pivotal decision-making roles and developmental processes.

Alinafe Chikakuda,made these remarks during a youth engagement meeting held at the Dowa NICE office in Dowa district.
Chikakuda stressed the importance of the younger generation in shaping the future trajectory of the country.
She highlighted the demographic significance of the youth population, saying they have numerical strength.
“The youth are the backbone of our nation, comprising the largest segment of our population,” Chikakuda said.
“It is high time they rise to the occasion and partake in the development processes that will pave the way for Malawi to achieve its long-term goals,” she added.
On his part, Isaac Diver, Chairperson of the Mponela Youth Network, expressed gratitude to the organization for involving them in interventions aimed at enhancing youth participation in decision-making positions.
NICE organized the engagement meeting under the ‘Boma Lathu’ project with funding from the European Union.
