Woman in custody for stealing from church members
By Chisomo Phiri
Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 27- year-old Bridget Jabes for allegedly stealing from church members during prayer time at Good News Ministries in Area 47.
Spokesperson for Lingadzi Police Station Cassim Manda says Jabes was taking advantage of prayer time when members close their eyes in prayer and steal handbags and wallets.
He says an investigation was launched after receiving complaints from the church members.
“A thorough search at her house, revealed a number of handbags and wallets which were confirmed to be of the church members,” says Manda.
Jabes hails from Kambilonjo village in Ntcheu district.
She will appear in court soon to answer theft charges.
