AFord Vice President who is also an accomplished human rights activist Timothy Pagonachi Mtambo has appealed for respect of rights of Malawians if the country is to register meaningful political and socio-economic glory.

Mtambo expressed his worry over the sprouting arrests in a government attempt to implement cyber security laws in the country. He was speaking at a recent Television interview that he gave to Luntha TV

Comrade Timothy Mtambo

Mtambo clarified and questioned, “Human rights have three obligations: to protect, to promote and to fulfill. Therefore there is no need for intimidations. Where is Gregory Gondwe? Why was Reverend Gondwe arrested in Mzuzu?”

Mtambo said Malawians must not be frightened to speak on national matters describing cybersecurity laws as undemocratic.

He highlighted that freedom of expression, freedom of opinion and freedom of press are cornerstones of democratic dispension saying government must observe cardinal responsibility of respecting citizens’ rights and urged Malawians to stand up passionately for their rights and freedoms.
