As one way of sustaining and expanding economic development towards vulnerable and poor communities through long term programs, Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) has on Monday opened its fifth shop in Blantyre.

The shop which is located at Kandodo Corner Shop along M1road ,has been built in consideration of the nearby communities who could not access DAPP commodities at long distances.

The communities will include those living in Mbayani, Chemusa just to mention some but a few,and will bail them out from buying expensive commodities.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Country Director for DAPP, Moses Chibwana said the additional shops in the City will help the fund move to boost other initiatives of their social work, and pave opportunities within the communities.

“We have four other shops within the district ,but other people could not have time to come and buy our properties due to long distances Now we have a new shop and we hope people will access DAPP products,” said Chibwana.

In his remarks, the Regional Trade Officer for the southern region,Noel Shena commended DAPP for opening the new shop in the location, saying that the growing number of DAPP shops will also reduce the number of unemployed people as it will need more workers.

“DAPP is doing good work and building this new shop at Kandodo will help others to find employment as the organization is growing,we are happy that trade will improve too,” he said.

Precious Malaya, a DAPP customer from Mbayani said he was happy and that life will be easy since they will be buying things at cheaper prices.

DAPP started operating here in Malawi under the early support from European countries in 1995.

Its main aim is to work in solidarity mostly on humanism, Social and Economic development through long term programs.

Currently, DAPP works hand in hand with essential ministries in the country such as Education, Health, Finance and Agriculture among others.
