The government has officially written to Maxon Chitawo, a senior official at Egenco, instructing him to begin teaching at the School of Governance at the Mzuzu University (Mzuni).

Chitawo confirmed receiving the official letter today and stated that he has been advised to hand over his current responsibilities to another senior official in the company, Shadric Tchado, before assuming his teaching duties.

He will be taking over from William Liabunya, whose contract with Mzuni had expired.

Before joining Egenco, Chitawo had a long-standing academic career, having taught at Mzuni for approximately 19 years, gaining significant experience in governance and public administration.

The appointment is expected to strengthen the School of Governance’s faculty and provide students with insights drawn from both practical experience in the energy sector and years of academic teaching.

Chitawo’s return to the university reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging professional expertise to enhance higher education and develop future leaders in Malawi.
