By Chisomo Phiri

The Media, Information and Communication Committee of Parliament has summoned MultiChoice Malawi to a discussion over the suspension of DSTV services in Malawi.

MultiChoice Malawi Corporate Affairs Manager Zena Makunje confirmed the development on Thursday.

According to a letter that Malawiana Timws has in possession, the committee wants to meet Multichoice Malawi officials on August 16 to fully understand what led to the suspension of DSTV services in Malawi.

On Tuesday evening, MultiChoice Africa Holdings announced that it had withdrawn its DSTV services following a court ruling stopping it from effecting a tariff hike.

The move comes just days before major European leagues such as England, Spain, Italy, Germany and Portugal throw-off; a move likely to deny most locals who are so addicted to the leagues.
