AFORD leader Enock Chihana trashes DPP, MCP ahead of 2025 tripartite elections
By Chisomo Phiri
Alliance for Democracy(AFORD) President Enock Chihana says Malawians can no longer have the appetite to vote for former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and current ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the 2025 general elections.
Chihana who was speaking during Anti-Same sex marriages protests in Lilongwe argued that these two parties have been tried and the country knows what their leaders have done to the citizenry.
The AFORD leader claimed his party has solutions to the myriad economic challenges the current administration is grappling with including the highly billed but politically bruised Affordable Inputs Program (AIP) that has recently been soiled in endless scandals.
Chihana, whose party was part of the governing Tonse Alliance, mantains AFORD has never been tested but has what it takes to rescue the country he labels a ‘titanic sinking ship’.
On the AIP, he brags about having vast knowledge in issues of fertilizer; attributing the current program mess to poor planning.
Chihana further backed the Thursday anti-homosexuality protests that happened across the country; describing the development as the right thing to do and that democracy should prevail.
“As a party, we have made it clear that we don’t support same sex marriages. Our cultural and political values are against same sex marriages. A marriage is between a man and a woman, that’s all,” explained Chihana.
The AFORD leader concluded by telling journalists that no visitors can change the country’s cultural values hence those involved in the malpractice should stop.
