Chakwera says has faith in the NIS Complaints Tribunal

President Lazarus Chakwera on Thursday, 22nd June, 2023 said he has utmost faith in the capabilities of the newly sworn-in members to the Complaints Tribunal for the National Intelligence Service.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the three at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe, Chakwera said with their track records of professionalism, he is confident that they will discharge their duties with competence and integrity.



“So my advice to you is to simply do the task you have been given today, to do it well, to do it diligently, to do it passionately, and to do it for the good of the country”. Said the President.

He further reminded the three that the law establishes the National Intelligence Service as an independent state institution that reports to the President according to Section 3 of the Act, hence the responsibility they have taken needs passion, fairness, and accountability among others.

“And today, we the Malawian people, are putting on your shoulders a crucial responsibility of upholding justice, fairness, and accountability within the operations of the National Intelligence Service”, added President Chakwera while describing the event as an historic for being first of its kind in the country.

The Tribunal has renown Justice Redson Kapindu, Human Rights Activist, Sarai Chisala, and a former Security Officer, Brenant Chitanda.
