The Malawi’s servant leader Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has extended a contract for Malawi Police Service(MPS) Inspector General Merlyne Yolamu with three more years.
Presidential Press Secretary Anthony Kasunda confirmed of the development on Friday evening.
“Indeed her contract has been extended following the impressive performance she has been showing. The new contract is fir 3 years,” confirmed Kasonda.
Yolamu was appointed IG in July last year replacing George Kainja, who was relieved of his duties.
She is the second woman police chief in the country after Mary Nangwale whose appointment was not confirmed by Parliament.
