President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has asked stakeholders in the labour industry to join hands with the government in implementing policies that will address youth employment in the country.
President Chakwera was speaking on Monday at Masintha Ground in Lilongwe during the commemoration of World Labour Day.
The Malawi leader said that in the wake of Cyclone Freddy there is a realisation that many policies need to be pursued to address different problems including youth employment as part of the recovery plan.
“More than ever, we need to join hands in pursuing and implementing policies and programs that address the challenges of youth employment…….as part of the post disaster recovery plan..” said the President.
Labour Day falls on 1 May every year in Malawi. Today’s function was marked by different performances and demonstrations by different government departments, parastatals and companies from the private sector.
