By Kondanani Chilimunthaka
One week after President Lazarus Chakwera assured Malawians that God has not abandon the nation despite going through numerous challenges including recent devastating Cyclone Freddy, renown evangelist, Pastor Enoch Adeboye of Nigeria on Wednesday, 29th March, 2023 also assured the citizens that God has not forgotten Malawi, saying the future of Malawi will soon be glorious.
Pastor Adeboye who is the Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God which is found in over 190 countries, and is in the country accompanied by his wife, said this during his sermon at CrossRoads Hotel in the capital Lilongwe during Eminent Persons Forum which was organized by the Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM).
In his preaching, Adeboye who centered on wonders of the Lord, encouraged Malawians to to keep calling on his name for he always listens.
“I want to assure everyone of you, God has not forgotten Malawi, he is In-charge. I want to assure you, the one you call on neither sleeps, nor slumbers. He may pretend to be sleeping, but he is 100 percent awake.
I have good news for you, The future of Malawi will be glorious.” Said Pastor Adeboye in his preaching from the book of Mark Chapter 4 verses 35 to 41.
In his short speech, President Lazarus Chakwera who attended the forum, said Malawians need to understand that there is higher power who gives hope where there seems to be no hope at all, adding that Malawi should repent and humble itself before him(God).
He said; “In order that we might realize where we are in the context of that which has befallen us, we must repent because we have sinned and our people have sinned, and the past people have sinned. And right now even in the context of relief and recovery, there are people continuing to sin, not even caring for those in dire need.
As a nation we need to humble ourselves before Almighty God. We must remember that God is rich in mercy that the reason the word has come to us in such powerful fashion. We must have him everywhere.
We need to refocus, because there cannot be hope if you know that you have no one to call on, and too many of us are losing it because hearts are failing us because of fear. We need to understand there is higher power who gives hope where there seems to be no hope at all. And our refocusing is to make sure that we look onto him who is able to save to the uttermost.
In his remarks, Chairperson for Evangelical Association of Malawi, Archbishop Mark Kambalazaza thanked Pastor Adeboye for his visit to the country, describing it as a great honor and a blessing to Malawi, adding that being Elder of Elders within Pentecostals and Evangelicals, Pastor Enoch Adeboye’ visit has come at the right time of God’s working wonders upon Malawi.
