Freedom of Worship and Economic Liberation Movement (FOWEL) President Prophet David Mbewe has called on President Lazarus Chakwera to abide by his promise of appointing a newer and lean cabinet.
In a statement released yesterday, Mbewe says he wants the President to honor his public promise on the matter.
The FOWEL leader says, if Chakwera does not make the said appointments, his grouping will move to lawfully demand the same from his (Chakwera’s ) office.
Says Mbewe in a statement ” The state president made a promise to reshuffle the cabinet and appointment of lean one following public calls to improve government business, and as an austerity measure.
” Threatened by his Excellency’s culture of not honouring his own promise, as the case with campaign promises and many other pledges, I am pleading with him to honour the cabinet reshuffle that he stated he shall exercise his prerogative prior to the lapse of the month of January, 2023.
” failure to honour this simple promise, shall compel us, the republic citizens to lawfully demand the same from him.”
In his New Year address, Chakwera said he would this month announce a new cabinet which will be ‘lean’ and goal oriented.
With a day before the month ends, various stakeholders are now raising their expectation on the said new cabinet.
