The First Grade Magistrate’s Court in Nkhata-Bay, on Monday December 5,2022 sentenced a 50-year-old man to 14 years imprisonment with hard labour for being found guilty of defiling his two years and seven months old daughter in August this year.
The wife of the accused reported the incident to police after noticing a strange discharge from the little girl’s private parts.
The court heard that the convict, who is now on separation with his wife, in August took the baby from her mother’s custody to his home where he committed the crime.
Appearing before court, the father pleaded for leniency on grounds that he is the first offender, but First grade Magistrate Ezekiel Kamtikana slapped him with a 14 year jail term.
