Government pledges to ensure Bushiri’s Goshen City is a Success
By Jack Nemba
Minister of Local Government, Professor Blessings Chinsinga and his deputy, Honourable Halima Daud, visited Goshen City today appreciate the progress of this iconic smart city.
In his remarks, Honourable Chinsinga said it was quite gratifying to see, with his own eyes, that Goshen City is not just a vision, but an actual city taking root on the ground. He reiterated full government support.
Chinsinga said he is overwhelmed by the progress pledging government will do everything possible to ensure the project succeeds.
He described the City’s vision as beyond the secondary cities project that government is implementing.
“In their disorganized state, the available cities contribute 33 percent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product. The Goshen City vision is historic and will help in the country’s economic growth,” says Chinsinga.
He spoke this on Monday when he and his deputy, Halima Daudi, visited the City’s construction site in Monkey-bay.
The brain behind the multi-billion kwacha project, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri sees a better Malawi ahead with sustained political will that supports local investors.
He further discloses that four unnamed airline companies have already approached them to build the planned international airport within the City.
Again, Bushiri commends the current political leadership for creating a conducive environment for investors; describing the development as a genuine catalyst for a progressive Malawi.
A few weeks ago, Prophet Bushiri indicated that 4000 people were already working at the Goshen City with 100 000 jobs expected in the next three years of the project’s development.
